Christmas Blizzard

Wow - the weather guys got this one right! We did our Christmas blizzard. It started snowing on Wednesday evening. My mom and I both had to work on Thursday so my Dad took us to work in the truck because we had no idea what the roads would be like. Good thing we both got off work early - the drive home was slow-going and the snow starting to blow across the road. We made the decision to not attend Christmas Eve church since that would mean another trip into Sioux Falls to our church. My parents' church in Montrose cancelled services ahead of the storm. After Jon got done clearing the first batch of snow, we packed up our supplies / gifts for Thursday night and headed to Mom and Dads. Grandma Jo joined us as well and Uncle Dan and Taz were around as well.

We had lasagna, garlic bread and of course, beer and wine :). There were lots of treats and snacks too. The theme of the night was "keep it on the linoleum". This was because of Taz having a coughing fit, Mason dropping his cup and food, and some small bits of flying lasagna when it was cut into - these things are how memories are made, right?

Christmas morning, we woke up to a winter wonderland and a driveway that looked like this:

So, Jon went to clear the snow and neighbor guy Jeff joined in the fun:

On Christmas Day, we amused our selves by keeping tabs on the snow piling up on Mom and Dads deck. Here are the photos as the day went on - the last one is the end result but since it kept snowing over night, there was more on Saturday morning. The first one was taken Dec 24th - notice the snow behind Mason.
