Weary Traveller...

On a rainy day, it is always wise to double check that your car keys are indeed safely inside your purse...as opposed to in the car and in the IGNITION. Good grief. I didn't think that was possible anymore but I guess so. And of course, the husband, and my parents are all at home. Times like this make living outside of the city a pain.

Mason has been fighting a cold for the better part of a month now. We've been baffled - because he always seemed to come down with one after we travelled or went away for the weekend. Despite trips to the doctor, his chest is clear and ears for the most part, are good. He did have a double ear infection back in August but that cleared up within 10 days.

Sure enough, this past week on Monday, I noticed Mason had a runny nose and then I heard the cough. We've been dealing with that all week and some sleepness nights as well. I've been running his steamer with eucalyptus oil and lavender oil and that seems to help. That's about all we can do...he does have his appetite still - not as much but at least he's still eating. We made yet ANOTHER trip to our doctor this week - diagnosis, a bad cold.

We are really think that he just doesn't travel well. There have been no other changes and he hasn't been exposed to anything at home or at daycare. If it's not the travelling, then there is an allergy somewhere between here and there that we can't seem to pin down. As a result, we won't be making any trips for at least the next month, possibly longer in order to get him healed up. We travelled almost every weekend in August and it's likely his system never fully recovered each time.

So, does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how we can make our next trip more comfortable for Mason? I always bring familiar favorites for him when we travel - favorite blanket and toy, etc. The hard part in all of this? Even though he probably doesn't feel 100% - he's still playful and smiley as ever. Tough guy!
